Arsenal FC could face Manchester United FC in the FA Cup quarter-finals but first they must beat Leyton Orient FC in a replay after being held 1-1 in their fifth-round tie.
The Gunners defeated FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in midweek and returned to action by travelling to east London to take on Russell Slade's third-tier outfit. Arsène Wenger's side looked set to prevail courtesy of Tomáš Rosický's first club goal since January last year (53), yet the hosts sprung a surprise courtesy of Jonathan Téhoué's late equaliser.
Manchester City FC were far more convincing in their fourth-round replay, defeating Notts County FC 5-0. Patrick Vieira struck twice for Roberto Mancini's charges, who will now play Aston Villa FC in the fifth round.
Elsewhere, Ivan Klasnić scored the only goal as Bolton Wanderers FC won 1-0 at Fulham FC to set up a quarter-final trip to Birmingham City FC. As for the Blues' west Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, they drew 1-1 in the day's only Premier League fixture.
