Real Madrid CF remain seven points adrift of Liga leaders FC Barcelona following a 1-0 loss at CA Osasuna.
Madrid, who had previously lost only one league game under José Mourinho – 5-0 at Barcelona in November – succumbed to Javier Camunas's cool finish past Iker Casillas on 62 minutes. That proved enough for Osasuna to record a first Liga victory in nine attempts and send them three points clear of the relegation zone.
Third-placed Villarreal CF are now just six points off Madrid, Giuseppe Rossi scoring the only goal on the stroke of half-time in their victory against RCD Espanyol. Club Atlético de Madrid tasted defeat, meanwhile, losing 2-0 at home against Athletic Club. Gaizka Toquero struck both goals for Joaquín Caparrós's side, who are up to sixth, five points adrift of the top four.
