Seedorf takes Milan stay into tenth season

Clarence Seedorf will continue his quest to land a fifth European Champion Clubs' Cup after the 35-year-old midfielder committed to another 12 months' service with AC Milan.

Clarence Seedorf has signed a new contract with AC Milan, prolonging his stay with the newly crowned Italian champions until June 2012.

The former Netherlands midfielder's previous deal expired this summer but the four-time UEFA Champions League winner has agreed terms on a 12-month extension.

Since joining the Rossoneri in 2002 from city rivals FC Internazionale Milano, Seedorf has won, among myriad honours, both the Scudetto and the UEFA Champions League twice. He is the first player to lift European football's most coveted prize with three different clubs following triumphs with AFC Ajax in 1995 and Real Madrid CF three years later.

The 35-year-old has scored 45 goals in 282 Serie A appearances over nine seasons with the Diavolo and is second only to Paolo Maldini in the all-time European appearances list having played 155 times in UEFA club competition.

Seedorf becomes the sixth player to prolong his stay at San Siro following similar deals in recent days for Alessandro Nesta, Filippo Inzaghi, Massimo Ambrosini, Thiago Silva and Mark van Bommel. Andrea Pirlo joined Juventus on Tuesday.
