The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) organises various projects to strengthen and increase the popularity of youth football as well as to highlight the sport's role in a healthy lifestyle.
In accordance with an AFFA executive committee decision of 14 August, an AFFA Under-13 league has been established. Organised by the AFFA in cooperation with the ministry for youth and sport, the competition involves 80 teams. The first round of matches were played on 7 November, being held in the capital, Baku, as well as in four other cities of the republic.
The league calendar and results have been published on the AFFA website, with several local newspapers also covering the matches. The championship finishes in May and the winners will receive a prize from the AFFA.
It is the first time such a large-scale U13 competition has been run in Azerbaijan.
