The tender process for the exploitation of UEFA EURO 2012 media rights outside of Europe was launched on Friday and will run until 1 March.
The ex-European market has been split into various territories for which UEFA invites media companies, including broadcasters and agencies, to submit offers for the distribution and exploitation of the UEFA EURO 2012 media rights. The deadline for the receipt of offers is 12.00CET on 1 March.
The media rights to UEFA EURO 2012 are marketed on a platform neutral basis in order to reflect media technology convergence and to offer media content distributors the possibility to exploit the tournament across multiple platforms. Although the deadline for pre-registration expired last week, qualified parties still interested in participating in the tender process should email euro2012mediabids@uefa.ch.
Qualified broadcasters are media content distribution organisations, including local or pan-regional broadcasters and broadcasting unions, that have the appropriate infrastructure, reach, resources and strong financial standing to distribute UEFA EURO 2012 programmes in the relevant countries.
Qualified agencies are agencies and other organisations (excluding broadcasting unions) that have appropriate, extensive and proven experience in the commercial exploitation of media rights to major sporting events, with strong financial standing, sufficient resources, and suitably trained and experience personnel to market the media and related rights in the relevant territory and to provide the necessary rights delivery and account management services.
