Jason Culina has announced his intention to leave PSV Eindhoven when his contract expires this summer and join Gold Coast United in his native Australia on a three-year deal.
'Fresh start'
"For me this is a huge new challenge, a fresh start," said the 28-year-old, who reportedly turned down offers from PSV and NK Dinamo Zagreb to remain in Europe. "I'm eager to promote the [A-League] and to help it move on to a higher level. Players have returned from Europe before, but only at the end of their careers. But first I want to give everything for PSV." Culina has won three Eredivisie title since joining PSV from FC Twente in 2005 but could be denied a fourth this term as the champions are eleven points behind AZ Alkmaar at the halfway point.
