Birmingham City FC have signed both Scotland forward James McFadden from Everton FC and Hibernian FC left-back David Murphy.
International pedigree
McFadden, 24, leaves Goodison Park to join Birmingham for an initial fee of €6.7m which could rise to €7.7m. Birmingham manager Alex McLeish, who has worked with McFadden at international level, said: "He's not just a guy who can score great goals, he can create things and make things happen. He's matured and he's at a fantastic age." Winner of 37 Scotland caps, the former Motherwell FC trainee scored eleven goals in 109 Premier League games for Everton – including 53 starts.
Murphy capture
Englishman Murphy has accepted a three-and-a-half year contract at Birmingham after a €2m move, which could increase by €1.3m, from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian. The 23-year-old defender had made 13 top-flight appearances for Middlesbrough FC before his transfer to Edinburgh.
