Abbiati tries his luck with Atlético

AC Milan have agreed to loan Italy goalkeeper Christian Abbiati to Club Atlético de Madrid for next season.

The 29-year-old, capped four times by his country, has only just completed a similar season-long spell at Torino FC, playing 36 times in Serie A. Abbiati has been at Milan since summer 1998, making his league debut in the following January and going on to win the Scudetto. He lost his place to Dida for the 2002/03 campaign and barely figured over the next three seasons. He first went on loan to Juventus in summer 2005, playing 19 times before moving on to their Turin rivals. His move to UEFA Intertoto Cup entrants Atlético will be his first taste of football outside Italy.
