Trouble brewing
Five out of 14 members resigned at an extraordinary general meeting on 21 December, a tally which rose to seven when Attila Horváth and Ferenc Nemes stood down yesterday. Nemes cited health reasons for his departure following an eye operation, while Horváth was flanked by Hungarian Football League president István Kisteleki - a critic of MLSZ counterpart Dr Imre Bozóky and coach Lothar Matthäus - at a conference in the capital Budapest.
Ad hoc committee
With the number of board members having dropped below the legal limit of eight, the board was dissolved to signal the end of Bozóky's reign, for now at least. "This is a crime against Hungarian football," Bozóky was quoted as saying. Another EGM will be held later this month, most likely on 20 January, to establish an ad hoc committee who will prepare the MLSZ for an ordinary general meeting during which members can elect a new president and board.
