Larsson declared supreme in Sweden

The 33-year-old striker, who moved from Celtic FC to FC Barcelona in the summer and ended his international retirement to represent Sweden at UEFA EURO 2004™ and in FIFA World Cup qualifying, previously claimed the prestigious Guldbollen in 1998.

'Very proud'
"It is a great thing to receive this award again," said Larsson, who has scored 34 goals in 2004, including three for Sweden in Portugal. "I am very proud of this but nothing could have been achieved without my family, and my team-mates in the national side, and all the coaches I have had throughout the years." He was also declared best striker.

Isaksson hat-trick
Meanwhile, Stade Rennais FC custodian Andreas Isaksson was nominated best goalkeeper for the third year running. Two London-based players were honoured, with Tottenham Hotspur FC full-back Erik Edman winning the best defender prize and Arsenal FC's Fredrik Ljungberg clinching the midfield award.

Andersson honour
Jan Andersson, whose Halmstads BK side were pipped to the 2004 Swedish title by Malmö FF, was voted best coach and Djurgårdens IF's 22-year-old forward Tobias Hysén was declared best rookie. Djurgården/Alvsjö's Kristin Bengtsson claimed the Diamantbollen as best female player after a superb season for her club, repeating her feat of 1994.
