Article body
Manchester United FC defender Rio Ferdinand has been charged with misconduct by the English Football Association (FA) for "failure or refusal" to take a drugs test.
Drugs test
The England international did not attend a random drugs test at United's Carrington training ground on 23 September, although he subsequently passed a test 36 hours after the original one had been booked to take place.
Lesser charge
The FA had delayed pressing charges against the 24-year-old defender until they had fully investigated all the evidence surrounding the case, including the player's mobile phone records. Ferdinand has 14 days to respond to the charge.
