Peter Oforiquaye scored his second hat-trick in as many games as Olympiakos Piraeus FC beat Ethnikos Asteras 6-0 at the OAKA Spiros Louis stadium on Sunday.
Early boost
The league leaders were given a double boost after only seven minutes when Alexios Alexandris was fouled in the area by Milan Pavlovic. Pavlovic was immediately dismissed, reducing Ethnikos to ten men, and Predrag Djordevic calmly converted the penalty. Alexandris doubled the advantage before the break as he fired home in the 38th minute. Giovanni Silva made it 3-0 in the 58th-minute before Oforiquaye, who replaced Alexandris, struck a remarkable hat-trick in five minutes.
AEK keep pace
Goals in the 66th, 68th, and 71st minutes completed the rout. Olympiakos stay a point clear of AEK Athens who struggled to overcome a stubborn Akratitos. Akratitos missed the chance to go in front after only two minutes when Christos Iliopoulos' penalty was saved. Vassilis Tsartas scored with a free-kick in the 31st-minute but AEK were unable to add to their score.
PAOK in charge
FC PAOK Thessaloniki edged out Xanthi FC1-0 thanks to a Sladjan Spasic goal on the stroke of half-time. Xanthi finished the game with ten men after Nikos Zapropoulos was sent off in the 77th minute for a second bookable offence. The ten men of FC Aris Thessaloniki held off OFI Crete to win 2-1. Aris had Dimitris Markos sent off early in the second half, but goals from Giorgos Kazantzis and Giorgos Barkoglou secured the points. Ionikos and Aigaleo drew 1-1 in the day's other game.
