Greece round-up: PAOK secure dramatic victory

FC PAOK Thessaloniki secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Panahaiki GC on Sunday.

FC PAOK Thessaloniki cemented their position in fourth place in the Ethniki Katigoria with a dramatic 3-2 victory over struggling Panahaiki GC on Sunday.

Two-goal lead
PAOK cruised into a two-goal lead in the Toumba stadium with goals from Sladjan Spasic and Anastasios Katsiambis. Panahaiki then staged a comeback as Paolo Kobayashi pulled a goal back in the 74th minute and Panayotis Gitsis equalised ten minutes later.

Kafes the hero
Pantelis Kafes was the hero for PAOK as he scored three minutes from time to secure a valuable three points. Panahaiki, currently bottom of the table, now require something of a miracle if they are to save their top-flight status. They must beat Ionikos next week and hope that Panathinaikos FC beat Ethnikos Asteras.

Fafonka double
Iraklis FC beat FC Aris Thessaloniki 2-1 in their home match at the Kaftantzoglio stadium. The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute through Ederson Fofonka and doubled their advantage with Fofonka's second of the match. Aris reduced the arrears in the 72nd minute when Georgios Barkoglou scored but they could not find an equaliser.

OFI in charge
OFI Crete maintained their place in mid-table after a 2-1 home win against Aigaleo. OFI took the lead early on when Kostas Kiassos was brought down into the area by Ioannis Skopelitis in the third minute. Kiassos dusted himself down to score from the resulting penalty, before Alexander Soares made it 2-0 after 24 minutes. Giannis Chloros pulled a goal back for Aigaleo just after the hour mark, before they had Theodoros Angos and goalkeeper Nenand Bikic and coach Georgios Hatzaras sent off in the closing stages. If OFI beat Xanthi FC in their final match and Iraklis draw with Panionios GS, OFI will secure a place in the UEFA Cup due to their superior head-to-head record over Iraklis.

Four-star Panionios
Panionios beat Ethnikos Asteras 4-0 at home after Karim Mouzaoui gave them the perfect start with a shot past Asteras goalkeeper Chrisostomos Michailidis in the eleventh minute. Panagiotis Gonias's free-kick doubled their lead in the 65th minute and Mouzaoui and Antonis Karagiannis completed the scoring in the final five minutes.

Akratitos in charge
Akratitos all but secured their top-flight safety with a 2-0 win against Ionikos. Akratitos captain Lefteris Velentzas opened the scoring for the home team nine minutes before the interval, before Christos Iliopoulos made the points safe after a mistake by Ionikos goalkeeper Ilias Stogiannis.
