Czech Republic round-up: Slavia end Zizkov reign

Home subsidence
Slavia inflicted a first home defeat in over two years on Zizkov thanks to goals from Rudolf Skácel with two, Tomás Dosek and Adam Petrous. Fittingly, they had been the last team to win there back in October 2000.

No stopping Sparta
Despite the emphatic triumph, however, Slavia stayed five points behind Sparta after the latter maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 2-0 success at SK Sigma Olomouc. Miroslav Baranek got the final touch on Rastislav Michalík's free-kick before Jirí Jarosík doubled the visitors' advantage.

Slovan surprised
The result lifted Sparta ten points clear of defending champions FC Slovan Liberec, who went down 3-2 at SK Hradec Králové - the bottom club's first win of the season. Goals from Pavel Krmas, Jan Kraus and David Zoubek illuminated a match interrupted for 40 minutes by floodlight failure, with David Langer and Samuel Slovák replying for Slovan.

Teplice win again
Hradec climbed above CU Bohemians Praha, who lost 3-2 at home to FK Teplice. A Ludek Zelenka strike sealed the away team's seventh victory in eight games since Frantisek Straka took over as coach.

Chovanec link
FC Príbram climbed into sixth place after beating SK Ceské Budéjovice with two goals in the last eight minutes. However, the match was probably Jozef Chovanec's last as coach, with the former national team trainer due for talks with Ukrainian champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Snow stops play
Elsewhere, 1. FC Synot prevailed 2-1 at FK Chmel Blšany while FC Zlín edged past 1. FC Brno 2-1. The game between FK Jablonec 97 and FC Baník Ostrava was postponed due to a heavy snowfall.
