Top scorer
Shevchenko, top scorer in Italy's Serie A in the 1999/00 campaign and second last season, both times with 24 goals, was the overwhelming choice among 600 coaches, experts and journalists, the magazine said on Monday.

Points system
Each selects three names graded on a points system, with first place getting three points, down to one for the third. The former FC Dynamo Kyiv forward earned 1593 points in the poll, gaining 511 first place votes, 25 second place and ten third.

Zubov second
Gennadiy Zubov of FC Shakhtar Donetsk came second with 848 points while Dynamo and Ukraine striker Olexsandr Melaschenko, the Ukrainian Premier League's leading scorer this season, was third with 224 points.
