No sooner had Parc des Princes turned the lights out at the end of the final round of matches of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage, then attention turned to matters in France for UEFA EURO 2016.
Ahead of Saturday's draw, UEFA Events SA CEO Martin Kallen told football fans listening to UEFA.com's Matchday Live audio show, how the final tournament in France will be a "sustainable" event.
On UEFA ensuring a sustainable EURO ...
Firstly, we are looking to promote people coming [to the games] by public transport. We are working with the authorities that they make good offers for that all over France whether on the trains, the buses or the trams. It’s also important to have no barriers for fans with disabilities to enjoy the matches and that waste is minimised when you're going to a kiosk to buy a sandwich or a drink. We also have a nice programme for children as well as a lot of other programmes, including those for no smoking in the stadiums.
On how fans can be involved ...
The fans can use our websites to look at the Ecocalculator and look at where you come from and where you go to [and how] and see the emissions that come from that. Then, you can enter your details to contribute towards projects that offset your carbon emissions.
