UEFA has signed a cooperation agreement with Anti Doping Denmark, the Danish anti-doping agency, to coordinate the doping operations of both organisations, and to allow for reinforced partnerships in the coordination of sampling, as well as in the sharing of intelligence and data, including players' biological passports.
This brings the number of agreements now signed by UEFA with key European national anti-doping agencies (NADOs) to 13.
UEFA head of anti-doping Marc Vouillamoz said: "I am delighted to have signed this agreement with Anti Doping Denmark, as it further enforces UEFA's efforts to create a network of coordination and information sharing across Europe. By reaching agreement with a leading NADO such as Anti-Doping Denmark, we can continue to enhance our testing programme, and expand the robustness of the biological passport across Europe. We hope that this will lead to a fruitful future co-operation between both organisations."
Football is the third most tested sport in Denmark, with both urine and blood tests taken, and all tested footballers automatically being allocated a steroid profile. UEFA conducted 2,318 tests in 2014 – 2,024 urine tests (1,515 in-competition and 509 out-of-competition) and 294 blood tests (60 in-competition and 234 out-of-competition).
