Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has agreed to extend his contract at FC Bayern München by a further three years.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that the 28-year-old had penned a new deal until 2019 at a specially-arranged general meeting for club members in Munich on Friday evening. "I think it's great that, right after the defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday, Manuel has sent a clear signal by saying: I want to be a part of FC Bayern forever," he said.
Reacting to his new deal on Facebook, Neuer said: "I feel very settled here at the club and in the city of Munich and we still have big goals. I'm looking forward to our future together."
Signed from FC Schalke 04 in 2011, Neuer played a pivotal role in Bayern's Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League treble last season. Josep Guardiola's side will return to Europe's premier club competition next term after retaining their domestic crown this year.
