Claudio Pizarro has agreed a one-year contract extension at FC Bayern München.
Pizarro, in his second spell at Bayern having rejoined the club in summer 2012, looked set to leave at the end of the season. However, he did enough in last term's Bundesliga – ten goals in 17 appearances –to earn an extended stay.
"This season Claudio again demonstrated his goalscoring ability and showed how important he is to the team," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "We're extremely pleased we'll still be able to count on him and benefit from his efforts."
Pizarro, who played for SV Werder Bremen and Chelsea FC between his two stints at Bayern, has made more Bundesliga outings (370) and scored more top-flight goals (176) than any other non-German player.
"I'm very proud that I'll be playing for FC Bayern for another year," said the 35-year-old. "There's no better club in the world in my opinion. This is an unbelievable group of players who really enjoy it together – we intend to go for it again next season."
