Bosnians underwhelm against Egypt

FIFA World Cup finals debutants Bosnia and Herzegovina endured a disappointing night in Innsbruck as goals from Mohamed Nagy and Mohamed Salah gave Egypt a comfortable friendly win.

Salah's incisive through ball allowed Nagy to steal in for the opener on 52 minutes, and the Chelsea FC winger was on hand to beat Asmir Begović on 65 minutes after the ball had fallen to him following Ahmed Fathi's free-kick. HNK Hajduk Split's Tino-Sven Sušić and SK Sturm Graz's Anel Hadžić came on for their debuts, but there was little else to celebrate for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The pattern was set in the first half; Fathi carved out presentable opportunities in the 14th and 16th minutes, while it took half an hour for Bosnia and Herzegovina to create their first meaningful chance, Senad Lulić's shot proving to be no problem for Egypt goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy. The African nation then moved up a gear after the break, with Nagy and Salah scoring in Shawky Gharib's first game as coach.

The Dragons will hope to produce a more joined-up performance in their next two friendlies before the finals in Brazil, both scheduled to be played in the United States. They meet Ivory Coast in St Louis on 30 May, and Mexico in Chicago on 3 June.
