ACF Fiorentina have parted company with coach Siniša Mihajlović and appointed Delio Rossi as his replacement, with a contract agreed with the former US Città di Palermo tactician until June 2013.
The decision came in the wake of a 1-0 defeat at AC Chievo Verona on Sunday that left the Viola in 13th place in Serie A, four points above the relegation zone with 12 points from ten games. The 42-year-old Mihajlović, who joined Fiorentina in summer 2010, guided his side to a ninth-place finish in his first season in charge.
The former Bologna FC and Calcio Catania boss is succeeded by Rossi, who was without a club since leaving Palermo by mutual consent in June. Rossi, 51, has previously coached Salernitana Calcio, US Lecce, Atalanta BC and S.S. Lazio. He guided the Rosanero to the Italian Cup final last term.
