Spain and France have received the respective UEFA Respect Fair Play trophies for conduct at the last season's UEFA European Women's Under-19 and U17 Championship final tournaments.
UEFA President Michel Platini presented the trophies to the winning captains Marta Turmo (Spain) and Julie Marichaud (France) ahead of the 2014/15 elite round and 2015/16 qualifying round draw ceremonies at the House of European Football in Nyon today.
The Respect Fair Playy rankings were based on the teams' fair play conduct during all matches at the UEFA European Women's U19 Championship finals in Norway in July, and the UEFA European Women's U17 Championship in England last November and December.
"I am happy and proud that we have received this prize," said Turmo. "Step by step, the philosophy of fair play gets more and more recognition on and off the field. It is nice to have received the trophy from the UEFA President, as he is trying to further develop women's football. And to have him here it proves that he is with us."
"It is always an honour to receive this award," added Marichaud. "It proves that we have followed the principles of fair play. I am really excited about it. And it's great to have received the award from the hands of the UEFA President."
