On the day of the UEFA Champions League final, UEFA Grassroots Day will be marked in Serbia with a number of activities organised by the Football Association of Serbia (FSS).

At the centre of the celebrations on 28 May will be a day of fun taking place at the country's new National Football Centre − due to be opened by UEFA President Michel Platini on 14 May in Stara Pazova, just outside Belgrade.

A press conference will emphasise the importance of the grassroots game, while competitions will take place for clubs in the areas of women's, children's and veterans' football, as well as football for the disabled. In addition, projects including the Special Olympics, Mini-Maxi Football Leagues, Open Fun Football Schools and the Fair Play League will also be featured.

Aside from the activities scheduled in Stara Pazova there will also be events taking place nationwide in coordination with the grassroots and volunteer's network of the FSS. Local political leaders and celebrities will be invited to attend and offer their support to participants.

Away from UEFA Grassroots Day, Serbia has a busy schedule in store as part of its 'Summer of Grassroots'. Mini-pitch soccer schools, Mini-Maxi football camps, beach soccer tournaments and street soccer competitions are all part of a busy calendar.
