AS Roma goalkeeper Júlio Sérgio has extended his expiring contract with the Giallorossi, committing himself to the club until 2014.
Once described by former Roma coach Luciano Spalletti as "the best third-choice goalkeeper in the world", the 31-year-old Brazilian finally made his Serie A debut for Roma in 2009/10 – his fourth season at the club. He made his first league appearance in August and went on to feature in 30 matches as the Giallorossi finished second, two points behind FC Internazionale Milano, earning a place in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
