Elsewhere in England, Portsmouth FC have completed the signing of Jamaican international striker Ricardo Fuller from Preston North End FC - a month after a €2.95m move collapsed after Fuller failed a medical due to a long-standing knee injury. The 25-year-old, who scored 31 goals in 63 games over two years with Preston, has joined on a pay-as-you-play basis.
Former Halmstads BK and Malmö FF striker Igor Sypniewski has penned a four-month contract with the Swedish First Division's bottom side Trelleborgs FF. Sypniewski, who scored eleven league goals for Halmstad last season, will hope to revitalise the fortunes of a team who have taken just one point from the last eleven league games.
Feyenoord's Richard Breinburg has gone on a season's loan to Dutch second division outfit FC Dordrecht. The 20-year-old, who has represented the Netherlands at Under-16 and U19 levels, is under contract at the Rotterdam club until summer 2006 but is yet to make his first-team debut.
De Graafschap have signed SBV Vitesse forward Mamadou Zongo, also on a one-year loan. The 23-year-old Burkina Faso player, who has scored 14 goals in 75 matches for Vitesse, will be reunited with former team-mate John van Beukering at De Graafschap.
Finally, Melchior Schoenmakers has ended his nine-year association with FC Groningen by agreeing a 12-month deal with Austrian Bundesliga team SW Bregenz. The 28-year-old central defender moves on a free transfer.
French youth international Carl Medjani has returned to Liverpool FC after the French Football Federation cancelled his loan to FC Lorient. The 19-year-old, who has represented his country at Under-17 and Under-19 level, is a product of the youth side at AS Saint-Etienne, and under the terms of FFF regulations, an apprentice who failed to sign for the club that produced him is not allowed to represent another French side for three years without the permission of his first club. Saint-Etienne refused to give their permission for Medjani to play for Lorient, so Medjani will return to Anfield.
