Article body
One-goal deficit
A goal down from Saturday's first leg, Zaragoza made an impressive start as they deprived the home side of possession and pushed forward in search of an early goal.
Galletti glee
They got their reward with two well taken first-half strikes, Brazilian defender Alvaro heading into the net at the far post in the eleventh minute and Argentinian winger Luciano Galletti firing in at the near post with a low drive just after the half-hour.
Corradi converts
Valencia, who also added the UEFA Cup to their Primera División crown last season, pulled a goal back eight minutes into the second half when new signing Bernardo Corradi drilled in from 12 metres after good work from Portuguese full-back Marco Caneira.
Moreno makes sure
But Zaragoza striker Javi Moreno ended any hopes of a Valencia comeback when he scored with a fine glancing header at the near post seven minutes from time, sealing the 3-2 aggregate win.
