Underdogs make their point

The top three in the Netherlands already has a familiar look, with Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax leading the way - although all three sides dropped points at the weekend.

Dingsdag delight
Unbeaten SBV Vitesse are the dark horses among the usual suspects, fourth only on goal difference after sharing a 1-1 draw with visitors Feyenoord on Sunday. The result, secured by Vitesse's 21-year-old full-back Michael Dingsdag after Karim Saidi's headed opener, meant both sides surrendered their 100 per cent start to the season.

Honours even
In a repeat of the Dutch Super Cup from earlier this month, Ajax again slipped up at home against FC Utrecht, who made the short trip to Amsterdam and left with a share of the spoils. Surinam-born Darl Douglas gave the visitors the lead only for Steven Pienaar to equalise.

First points
Elsewhere on Sunday, RBC Roosendaal drew 2-2 with FC Groningen and ADO Den Haag grabbed their first points of the campaign, beating RKC Waalwijk 3-1 away from home. Rick Hoogendorp opened the scoring for the home side after six minutes but Cedric van der Gun levelled on the half-hour and Tom van der Leegte and Geert den Ouden sealed the win in the dying minutes.

Dream start
On Saturday, PSV went temporarily clear at the top after they came from behind to draw 2-2 away against NAC Breda, who had recovered from conceding inside the opening minute to take the lead with goals either side of half-time from Arne Slot and Mike Zonneveld. PSV's Gerald Sibon restored parity on the hour - Mark van Bommel had given Guus Hiddink's side a dream start.

Away wins
Goals from 20-year-old Ivorian Arouna Kone and Brazilian Cristiano enabled Roda JC to come from behind and defeat De Graafschap 2-1 at the Parkstad Limburg. AZ Alkmaar and Willem II both won by the odd goal in three on their travels, defeating NEC Nijmegen and FC Den Bosch respectively. But the weekend's biggest winners were FC Twente, who picked up their first points of the season with a 4-1 victory at home against fellow strugglers SC Heerenveen, Jason Culina scoring twice.
