UEFA launches UEFA EURO 2020 online team facilities catalogue

006 - Team base camp facilities located in close proximity to the 12 cities hosting UEFA’s top national team competition

An extensive online catalogue of pre-selected hotels and training centres, spanning the 12 European cities hosting UEFA EURO 2020, was launched by UEFA on 1 February 2019 to facilitate the 24 teams which will eventually contest the final tournament to be staged from 12 June to 12 July 2020.

"With the support of each host association, and taking into account our own experience from staging the UEFA European Football Championship, our online team facilities catalogue caters for all needs that the teams will have to prepare for their matches during UEFA EURO 2020," says UEFA Events CEO Martin Kallen.

After visiting more than 150 hotels and over 100 training centres in the last two years, the team facilities catalogue includes training centres of some of Europe’s top clubs, including FC Bayern München, AS Roma, S.S. Lazio and FC Zenit, among others. These training centres are linked to hotels in a variety of locations – from close proximity to the city centre to those by the sea and from golf resorts to countryside estates. The hotels have been pre-reserved in collaboration with Booking.com, UEFA’s official accommodation booking partner of UEFA EURO 2020.

All the sites were meticulously chosen using UEFA’s expertise and the extensive knowledge each Local Organising Structure (LOS) has from its local football environment. The goal is to provide a comfortable and secure environment, which at the same time meets the highest international standards and caters for the unique requirements of professional athletes.

"As UEFA EURO 2020 is unique, with 12 host cities across Europe staging the finals, a unique approach was also required in the selection of the team base camps,” Mr Kallen added. “To emphasise the vital role that the host cities play, each team base camp is located within a 60 kilometre radius of each stadium hosting matches in the final tournament. This proximity will help limit the travel distance for the national teams and allows them more time for optimum match preparations. It is an important factor that will ensure that their ‘home away from home’ will provide the best possible experience during EURO 2020."

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, UEFA EURO 2020 will be the biggest European Championship finals ever. The twelve host cities include: Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and Saint Petersburg. There are eight capitals amongst the host cities, and eleven venues boasting a stadium capacity in excess of 50,000.

Teams qualified for UEFA EURO 2020 will be able to select their team base camp facilities outside of the above-mentioned catalogue, as well as to stay in a hotel outside of 12 host countries.
