Lars-Christer Olsson was raised in southern Sweden, where he also studied sports and leisure management, which gave him his first job in the city of Lund. From there, he moved to a position as general manager for the district’s regional football association.
Following additional education in business management at the University of Lund, he was consultant for an IT company before joining the Swedish Professional Football League as general secretary. After a short period, he become general secretary of the Swedish Football Association (SvFF), and served as tournament director for EURO’ 92 in his home country.
From 2000, he lived in Switzerland and worked for UEFA as director of professional football and marketing and CEO before moving back to Sweden in 2011, where he is now active as chairman or board member of several smaller companies or start-ups. He also holds the position of president of the Swedish Professional Football League and second vice-president of the Swedish Football Association. Since 2016, he has also been president of European Leagues, which has its offices in Switzerland, and became their representative on the UEFA Executive Committee in February 2018.
