Hibernians FC captain Andrew Cohen has been named Maltese Footballer of the Year at the annual Malta Football Association (MFA) awards in Valletta on Friday.
The 34-year-old, a key member of the side that dominated the championship this season, said it was the "cherry on the cake" as he collected the accolade for the third time. "After losing my place in the first team last season I wanted to get back to where I wanted to be," he said.
"I always felt I still had lots to offer to the game. I had to get my confidence back, win my place in the team. That said, I never thought I would be contending for this top accolade at the end of this season."
Cohen is only the second player to win the prize three times after former Valletta FC man Gilbert Agius.
