Brandur Olsen's strike 12 minutes into extra time spelled success for FC København in the Danish Cup final, with FC Vestsjælland going down 3-2 in front of a 24,095-strong crowd in Copenhagen.
"It was just an amazing experience to score the winning goal," the 19-year-old said after getting what was the first goal of his senior career. "It's hard to believe that it happened. I just ran over to our fans. This cup success simply means so much to me and to the club."
Making their cup final debut, Super League strugglers Vestsjælland took the lead, Greek forward Apostolos Vellios heading in a free-kick around the half-hour mark, but FCK turned the tables in the space of nine second-half minutes. Swedish central defender Per Nilsson nodded in from a corner before Icelandic striker Björn Sigurdarsson lifted the ball over Thomas Mikkelsen to make it 2-1.
With two minutes to go, substitute Dennis Sørensen rose to convert another corner and take the game into extra time, but Vestsjælland had no answer after Faroese teenager Olsen scored, his left-foot effort securing a sixth Danish Cup for FCK.
