KF Laçi have won the Albanian Cup for the second time in three years thanks to a 2-1 victory against FK Kukësi.
Victors in their maiden final appearance in 2013, Laç struck first this time around when Emiliano Veliaj opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Kukës, who were second in the league behind KF Skënderbeu for the third year running and lost their only previous cup final to KS Flamurtari 12 months ago, needed inspiration and levelled on the stroke of half-time through an unlikely source. Edon Hasani had only scored one league goal in his career but the midfielder restored parity with his second goal in the competition this term.
The decisive moment arrived shortly after the hour mark when Segun Adeniyi prised what proved to be the winning goal. It was the Nigerian midfielder's 16th goal of the season, and it secured the trophy as well as a place in qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League – a fitting reward for Adeniyi, who scored twice in the first qualifying round against NK Rudar Velenje at the start of this campaign.
