AC Chievo Verona have moved swiftly to replace Eugenio Corini by appointing Rolando Maran as their new coach on a one-year contract, with an option to extend for a second year.
The club opted for a change in direction following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at AS Roma, Chievo's fifth loss in their opening seven Serie A matches. "It's very emotional for me to be at this club," Maran told Chievo's official website. "It's extra special because I spent almost my entire playing career at Chievo Verona and now I'm very happy to be here as coach."
The former Calcio Catania boss, who made 330 appearances for Chievo as a player, previously served on the Gialloblu's bench as Silvio Baldini's assistant during their 1997/98 campaign in Serie B.
