The Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) president, Paul Philipp – who has been at the helm since 2004 – was re-elected at the association's ordinary congress on Saturday.
Philipp, who is 63, is beginning a fourth term of office, and is putting priority on the training of young players. "The number of licensed players has increased by 10,000 in ten years," said the former international. This figure is not insignificant in a country with 550,000 inhabitants. "We are going to continuer to give resources to the clubs to guide young players and to train coaches," he added.
Philipp took the opportunity to underline the encouraging form of the senior national team, which has made constant progress in recent years, for example, obtaining a 1-1 draw in Italy in June. "The national team remains the driving force of our football," he said.
"It is thanks to them that we are gaining a certain credibility abroad ... The quality of our championship and our positive results in the European club competitions in recent years prove that we are on the right track.”"
