Turkish football is in mourning following the death on Wednesday of Beşiktaş JK honorary president Süleyman Seba at the age of 88.
During Seba's presidency of the Istanbul club from 1984 to 2000, Beşiktaş won five Super League titles and four Turkish Cups. Seba, who played on the right wing for the Black Eagles between 1945 and 1954, was a strong advocate of fair play throughout his time in football and shortly after the announcement of his passing the club channels of Fenerbahçe SK and Galatasaray AŞ started broadcasting documentaries about his life.
Beşiktaş president Fikret Orman said: "We are deeply saddened after hearing the news. He [Seba] was an important sports person for the Turkish community. He was the key representative of sportsmanship and kindness. He was loved by the communities of our arch-rivals too. May God let him rest in peace."
