Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Croatia Under-21 defender Tin Jedvaj on loan from AS Roma.
The 18-year-old arrives at Leverkusen on an initial two-year contract, with the club also securing an option to make the move permanent in June 2016. Jedvaj, a tall centre-back who can play in defensive midfield as well, made just two Serie A appearances for Roma last season.
"Tin Jedvaj is a huge talent who has been on our radar for some time. We hope he can make the next step at our club," Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler said of the former GNK Dinamo Zagreb starlet. "Our squad is strengthened defensively with this transfer and we have managed to acquire another promising young player."
Fourth in the 2013/14 Bundesliga, Leverkusen will enter the UEFA Champions League in the play-offs, while Serie A runners-up Roma have qualified for the group stage.
