"I want to work hard to help AC Milan return to the UEFA Champions League," said Brazilian centre-back Alex after joining the Rossoneri on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Alex, who has signed a two-year contract at Milan, won two Ligue 1 titles with Paris, having moved from Chelsea FC in January 2012. "I'm very happy to be at Milan, everything seems perfectly organised here," said the 31-year-old. "I'm very excited to fight for this team and this club." Seven-time European champions Milan failed to qualify for UEFA competition after finishing eighth in Serie A.
Alex came to Chelsea from Santos FC in 2004 but spent three seasons loaned to PSV Eindhoven, claiming three Eredivisie titles and the domestic double in 2005. He returned to Stamford Bridge in 2007, winning the Premier League in 2010 and the FA Cup twice during a three-and-a-half-year stint.
