FC Differdange 03 have clinched the Luxembourg Cup for a third time with a 2-0 victory over F91 Dudelange.
Going into the cup final full of confidence after winning the championship in Luxembourg for the eleventh time last weekend, Dudelange were denied a domestic double in front of 2,900 spectators at the Stade Josy Barthel.
Antonio Luisi struck in first-half added time to give Differdange a vital lead at the interval and was then brought down in the box by Romain Ney nine minutes into second half. While Ney was sent off, Geoffrey Franzoni stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake.
Chances were at a premium for the remainder of the match, enabling Differdange to make up for losing the showpiece against AS Jeunesse Esch last year. It also gave Michel Leflochmoan a perfect ending to his two-year spell as coach of the club.
