FK Lovćen remain on course for a domestic double after claiming their first major trophy by edging FK Mladost Podgorica 1-0 in the Montenegrin Cup final.
The club from Cetinje, who are celebrating their centenary season, prised open the Mladost defence three minutes after the interval courtesy of Draško Božović. Forward Luka Merdović came close to consolidating Lovćen's lead moments later when his shot from the edge of the penalty area shaved the crossbar. Dominant in possession and assured at the back, Lovćen looked in little danger of conceding until goalkeeper Jovan Perović produced a superb save to deny Nenad Zečević from close range in the dying seconds.
"This is a dream come true and a well-deserved trophy. We have played well all season and this is the reward for our hard work and great commitment," said captain Vladan Tatar. The campaign is far from over for Lovćen, who travel to FK Sutjeska for their penultimate match of the season on Saturday, a point behind the Montenegrin First League leaders.
