Sporting Clube de Portugal have parted company with coach Leonardo Jardim.
The Lisbon club's president Bruno de Carvalho said at a press conference that an agreement had been reached with the 39-year-old over the cancellation of his contract.
Jardim took charge of the Lions 12 months ago following a short spell in Greece with Olympiacos FC and guided Sporting to a second-place Liga finish behind SL Benfica, one that ensures them of a return to the UEFA Champions League group stage after five seasons away.
De Carvalho thanked Jardim for his professionalism and spoke of the "respect and big friendship" between the men, while the former SC Braga trainer said: "I have mixed feelings about leaving a club that means so much to me. It is another step in my career and I hope Sporting get stronger in the future."
