EA Guingamp got the better of an all-Breton French Cup final, Jonathan Martins Pereira and Mustapha Yatabaré scoring the goals that accounted for Stade Rennais FC.
In a repeat of the 2009 final, which Guingamp won 2-1, Pereira put his side in front, side-footing into the net after goalkeeper Benoît Costil had blocked Christophe Mandanne's header from a cross from the right. Mali international Yatabaré put the game beyond Rennes early in the second half after getting a head to Steeven Langil’s ball from the left.
"We appreciated it, we enjoyed it," said Yatabaré after the game. "In the end we have won this wonderful cup. We can be proud of ourselves. We deserve it - we played the perfect game. They did not create any real chances and we were outstanding tonight. We controlled the game, they did not have anything. There is nothing else to say: we were perfect."
Guingamp will thus start next season's UEFA Europa League in the group stage. They will hope to avoid doing so as a Ligue 2 side, with only four points separating them from 18th-placed FC Sochaux Montbéliard with three games to play.
