Cherchesov set to replace Petrescu at Dinamo

FC Dinamo Moskva have parted company with coach Dan Petrescu after a run of poor results since the resumption of the Russian Premier League effectively halted their title challenge. Preferred successor Stanislav Cherchesov will end his FC Amkar Perm reign on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old Romanian departed by mutual consent after a 4-0 loss at bottom side FC Anji Makhachkala left the fourth-placed club eight points behind leaders FC Lokomotiv Moskva with six games to play. Petrescu was appointed in August 2012 and guided them to seventh last season.

"After the Makhachkala match the supervisory council proposed changing coach," said Dinamo sporting director Guram Adzhoev. "Today at our meeting, we thanked Petrescu for his work and wished him luck in his future career. Last season Dan pulled the team out of a difficult situation and took us to a certain level but there was no progress recently. We have to move forward.

"We will announce the name of our new coach on Thursday or Friday," Adzhoev added. "At the moment we have told the team we are holding negotiations with Stanislav Cherchesov. We hope they will conclude successfully. He is one of the strongest Russian coaches."

Following that statement on Tuesday, Amkar confirmed that Cherchesov was leaving. "Speaking on the phone, the Amkar and Dinamo presidents reached an agreement that tomorrow will be Stanislav Cherchesov's last day as Amkar head coach. After that he will join the capital club."

Cherchesov, 50, will be replaced on a temporary basis by youth team coach Konstantin Paramonov. Lokomotiv Moskva, PFC CSKA Moskva and FC Rostov are the only Russian top-flight sides not to have changed their coaches this term.
