Levante UD moved into seventh spot in the Spanish Liga with a 2-0 success against CA Osasuna, on a day when RCD Espanyol were held at Getafe CF.
Levante boosted their hopes of securing European football next season with the three points, going ahead just four minutes in as Papa Bouba Diop rifled a low shot into the corner from outside the area. Rubén García controlled in the box and finished sharply to double the home lead three minutes before the interval and Levante eased to victory despite Victor Casadesus's red card on the hour.
Espanyol stay tenth after failing to find a way past Getafe, while relegation-threatened Real Valladolid CF remain 18th after a 1-1 draw at Málaga CF. Roque Santa Cruz headed a 13th-minute corner into the net on 13 minutes to give the hosts the lead but Daniel Larsson slid in on 30 minutes to earn Valladolid a point. Elche CF struck the woodwork twice in the first half but eventually got the winner in the 84th minute through Carles Gil to secure a 1-0 defeat of RC Celta de Vigo.
