Armin Veh will step down as Eintracht Frankfurt coach at the end of the season, with the 53-year-old having agreed with the club not to announce his decision until the end of their UEFA Europa League campaign.
Frankfurt were eliminated by FC Porto on away goals in the round of 32 last week, but bounced back with a Bundesliga win against VfB Stuttgart at the weekend to move six points clear of the relegation zone. Veh had decided during the winter break that he would depart the club in the summer but has now decided to clarify the situation.
"For me, the only important thing right now is that we reach our goal, which is to avoid relegation," the former midfielder explained. "We have had many problems and a lot of injuries this season, but we are on course to reach that goal. I have told the team of my plans for the summer and I don't think this will have a negative effect on them. I haven't signed a deal with another club at this point."
Veh joined Frankfurt in 2011 and led them from the 2. Bundesliga into the UEFA Europa League. A Bundesliga winner with VfB Stuttgart in 2006/07, Veh was previously in charge of VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg.
