Juventus took another stride closer to the Serie A title after posting a 2-0 victory at AC Milan that lifted them 11 points clear at the summit.
With second-placed Roma unable to see off FC Internazionale Milano on Saturday, Juventus knew a win would strengthen their hold on top spot, and they went ahead close to half-time as Fernando Llorente finished off a flowing team move. Carlos Tévez then doubled the advantage halfway through the second period with a stunning long-range effort for his 15th league goal this term.
In third place, meanwhile, SSC Napoli had to settle for a 1-1 draw at struggling AS Livorno Calcio, a Pepe Reina own goal earning the hosts a share of the spoils. There was frustration too for fourth-placed ACF Fiorentina, who fell to an early Lorik Cana goal in a 1-0 home loss to SS Lazio.
Elsewhere, Parma FC made it 14 league games unbeaten as they defeated bottom club US Sassuolo Calcio 1-0, while Torino FC's hopes of gaining a European place took a hit as they succumbed 2-0 at home to UC Sampdoria. Cagliari Calcio saw off Udinese Calcio 3-0, Genoa CFC defeated Calcio Catania 2-0 and Atalanta BC were 2-1 victors against AC Chievo Verona.
