FC Internazionale Milano president Erick Thohir has announced that centre-back Nemanja Vidić will join the Nerazzurri in the summer when his contract with Manchester United FC expires.
The 32-year-old Vidić, capped 56 times by Serbia, had already revealed his decision to leave Old Trafford after eight and a half seasons, during which he has won the 2008 UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup, five Premier League titles and three English League Cups. The defender has signed a three-year deal with Inter, currently fifth in Serie A.
"Vidić is a great player," Thohir told Inter's website. "I'm extremely pleased with the agreement which will bring him here next season. He is one of the strongest defenders in the world: his qualities, international experience and leadership will help our young players to grow.
"Vidić will add great value to our club and will be an important piece in the building of a great Inter side. I want to thank Manchester United, Nemanja and his staff for their professionalism during this negotiation."
