Serie A strugglers AS Livorno Calcio have replaced Attilio Perotti, who only took charge eight days ago, with Domenico Di Carlo.
Perotti stepped up from his role as the Tuscan club's technical director last Monday to succeed Davide Nicola, but has chosen to relinquish the reins following the 3-0 weekend defeat by AS Roma – Livorno's eighth loss in their last nine games.
Rather than heed Perotti's suggestion that they recall Nicola, president Aldo Spinelli has opted for ex-Amaranto player Di Carlo. The 49-year-old – formerly in charge of Mantova FC, Parma FC and UC Sampdoria – was most recently at the helm of AC Chievo Verona, his second spell there ending in October 2012.
Livorno are 19th in the Italian top flight, two places and four points shy of safety. On Sunday they will host US Sassuolo Calcio, the team directly above them and one of just three sides they have beaten this term, bidding for their first victory since 3 November.
