FC Internazionale Milano have strengthened their midfield by signing Brazilian international Hernanes from Serie A rivals SS Lazio.
The 28-year-old has penned a contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2018 and joins the San Siro outfit for an undisclosed fee. "It was a difficult choice because the Lazio fans showed me they really loved me," said Hernanes. "I couldn't sleep last night; it was a difficult day for me. I will always carry these fans in my heart. I knew they loved me, but I couldn't imagine how much."
Hernanes contested 156 games for Lazio in all competitions and scored 41 goals during his three-and-a-half-year stay, which yielded a Coppa Italia triumph in 2013. He arrived in Italy from São Paulo FC in 2010, where he twice won the Brazilian championship, and has represented his country 23 times, notching two goals and lifting the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Inter, who also signed full-back Danilo D'Ambrosio from Torino FC on Thursday, currently lie fifth in Serie A, 23 points shy of leaders Juventus, whom they visit on Sunday.
