Spain
Club Atlético de Madrid, still level on points with FC Barcelona at the Liga summit following Saturday's goalless draw with the Azulgrana, reached the Copa del Rey quarter-finals at the expense of Valencia CF. Diego Simeone's side and Valencia were level at 1-1 after last week's opening instalment, and goals from Diego Godín and Raúl García secured the Rojiblancos' progress on Tuesday.

In the evening's other last-16 meeting, third division Real Racing Club eliminated top-flight side UD Almería, a 2-0 victory in Andalusia securing a 3-1 aggregate triumph. Real Madrid CF and Barcelona conclude their ties on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

France
UEFA Champions League round of 16 contenders Paris Saint-Germain are the first team through to the Coupe de la Ligue semi-finals, goals from Javier Pastore, Adrien Rabiot and Blaise Matuidi earning Laurent Blanc's charges a 3-1 victory against FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

In the Coupe de France, fourth-tier AS Cannes sprung a surprise by knocking out AS Saint-Étienne – fourth in Ligue 1 – to fill the final last-32 berth. Cannes fell behind but equalised midway through the second half and stayed level until the end of extra time, both teams down to ten men by the end of 120 minutes of action. The hosts prevailed 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.

England
Fulham FC
and Norwich City FC were the only Premier League outfits involved in Tuesday's ten FA Cup third round replays, the Cottagers winning 3-0 against Chris Hughton's side. Holders Wigan Athletic FC, meanwhile, came from behind to beat Milton Keynes Dons FC in extra time, while Watford FC set up a potential trip to Manchester City FC courtesy of a 2-0 success against Bristol City FC.

Italy
Holders SS Lazio are through to the last eight of the Coppa Italia after Brayan Perea scored twice – his second in added time – in a 2-1 defeat of Serie A counterparts Parma FC. The Biancocelesti will meet either SSC Napoli or Atalanta BC in the quarter-finals.
