"I would saw the Ballon d'Or into four and give it to Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Ribéry and Robben," Aleksandr Mostovoi said while choosing his 2013 UEFA.com users' Team of the Year.

Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben are two of five members of the all-conquering FC Bayern München side the former Russian international has selected. The ex-FC Spartak Moskva, SL Benfica, SM Caen, RC Strasbourg, RC Celta de Vigo and Deportivo Alavés player has opted for a 4-4-2 formation which, in his words, contains "two geniuses" up front.

Vote for your Team of the Year 2013

Manuel Neuer: The Munich side won all they could this year. Therefore, Neuer deserved to be in my team more than any other player.

Philipp Lahm: His main quality is his consistently high level of reliability. He never drops below a certain level. It is not an accident that Lahm is captain of Bayern and Germany.

Gerard Piqué: There is no need to say much about him − he has been one of the best central defenders of recent years. Moreover, I like how Barcelona play.

Dante: I like him because of his calm manner. He is probably a bit of an adventurous player, but at the same time he is confident.

Giorgio Chiellini: He is not really a full-back, but he is left-footed and therefore I would put him as a left-sided defender. He has successfully played for Juventus and Italy for many years.

Franck Ribéry: Together with Arjen Robben, he was a key component of Bayern's UEFA Champions League win.

Yaya Touré: He was great at Barcelona and has maintained his level of performance after transferring to Manchester City. He is very convincing in a defensive midfield role.

Paul Pogba: This guy has a great future. He is just 20 years old but is already in the Juventus and France starting XIs and shows a good level of performance for both teams.

Arjen Robben: His qualities are well-known, so I've no comment to make here other than remind you that he scored the winner in the Champions League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo: He is brilliant. He determines the play of his team and makes history. He and Messi are two absolute geniuses. There always were and will be comparisons between them, but everyone has his or her own tastes.

Lionel Messi: He scores goals which Ribery cannot even dream of. He scored 70 last year, but I would not give the Ballon d'Or only to him. I would saw it into four and give it to Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Ribéry and Robben.
